A ROAD closure expected to last until the end of this week has been lifted early to the joy of drivers in and around Newton Abbot.

The A382 Bovey Road had been closed since February 24.

The closure was to allow South West Water (SWW) to carry out exploratory works ahead of the next phase of improvements to the A382, dubbed the Jetty Marsh Link road.

It was expected to last until March 7, but with the work having been completed ahead of schedule, SWW have today, Tuesday, March 4, confirmed that the road has fully re-opened to traffic.

However, motorists are not out of the woods yet.

Wales and West Utilities’ have now turned their attention to Highweek Street.

The company’s work to upgrade the gas pipes will see a rolling road closure along the road, as well as three-way traffic lights on the junction of the A382.
