TWO of Newton Abbot’s long-standing organisations recently came together to take part in a basket weaving workshop.

Ladies from Newton Abbot WI were delighted to join Newton Abbot Flower Club for its willow basket weaving workshop.

Led by Nicky Heal of Nicky Heal Flower Studios in Taunton, the workshop has held at the Courtenay Centre for Newton Abbot WI’s February meeting.

‘Nicky was an excellent teacher’ Karen Jenks, Newton Abbot WI’s press officer, said.

‘The 25 of us who took part were delighted with our finished baskets’ she added.

Nicky, who teaches students at Bicton College, showed the group how to make a willow swallow, and a willow sphere.

‘We cannot thank him enough for his time and tuition’ Karen added.
