ENGLAND RFU U20s have enjoyed a strong start to their 2025 Six Nations, winning two games from two.

The tournament opener saw Mark Mapletoft’s team win in Ireland 19-3 at the end of January, taking place at Virgin Media Park.

England took the lead courtesy of the boot of Teignmouth’s finest, Ben Coen. He kicked a penalty just moments before his side were reduced to 14-men, fellow Exeter Chief Junior Kpoku seeing in the early stages.

Despite a yellow card going the way of Tom Burrow, England were able to retain their advantage, heading into the break at 9-3 thanks to two more Coen kicks. He slotted two more penalties in the second half either side of a penalty try to lead the visitors to a first victory of the tournament.

In a repeat of last year’s world final, Coen and co then took on France and came out on top yet again on home soil.

Coen successfully kicked two penalties and two conversions in his side’s 27-10 triumph over the French at The Rec, the home of Bath rugby.

Kane James crossed the white line after 11 minutes and he was then joined on the scoresheet at the death by Sale’s Dom Hanson with another penalty try in between the two.

Looking ahead now and after a weekend off, England return to action on Friday, February 21 with a home game against Scotland, at Kingston Park in Newcastle.

The Scots have kickstarted the campaign with home defeats to Italy and Ireland, making England the obvious favourites on paper, but the beauty of these tournaments is often the unpredictability of it all.

As is the case with the entire 2025 U20 Six Nations competition, this game will be available to view on the BBC iPlayer, kicking off at 19:15 GMT.
