PROCEEDINGS have got off to a ‘slow but steady’ start at one Newton Abbot polling station.

Polling staff at the station at Newton Abbot Children's Centre have welcomed a steady stream of voters since doors opened this morning, Thursday, July 4.

Voters have until 10pm tonight to cast their vote, whereafter ballot boxes will make their way to Newton Abbot Racecourse.

It is anticipated Newton Abbot’s count will be called at around 3am tomorrow, Friday, July 5.
