A NEWTON Abbot airgun retailer and rifle range has demonstrated the power of community spirit by raising £6,000 through a charity raffle.
Celebrating its ten year anniversary, Crackshot Airgun Centre marked the special occasion with a fundraiser.
The funds have been split equally between The Devon Clinic and Children’s Hospice South West.
The Devon Clinic, a mental health charity based in Paignton, provides affordable psychological therapies for individuals and families who might otherwise be unable to access support.
The donation will go directly towards sustaining the clinic’s services and supporting the Parents Under Pressure programme, which helps parents struggling with stress and anxiety.
‘We are incredibly grateful to Crackshot and everyone who took part in the raffle’ said Chris Fleet, Director at The Devon Clinic.
‘This donation will be vital in keeping our clinic running and ensuring parents in need get the mental health support they deserve’ he added.
Children’s Hospice South West, which provides essential care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families, will also benefit from the funds raised.
Daniela Hopkins, Area Fundraiser at CHSW, said: ‘At Children’s Hospice South West, not only do we tailor our care to each child’s individual and unique needs; we ensure that parents receive all the care and support that they need.
‘This aspect of our care absolutely aligns with what The Devon Clinic have set out to achieve with the Parents Under Pressure programme.
‘At CHSW, providing parents with a way to recharge their batteries is a vital part of our service.
‘We enable them to take a step away from the daily demands and challenges of caring for a child with a life-limiting condition and to focus purely on making precious memories together.
‘We cannot express how grateful we are to Crackshot for their kind-hearted and generous support, which will help fund not only end of life care, or even simply the medical and nursing care for children, it will help to enrich the lives of babies, children, young people and their families. who face the unimaginable.’
Crackshot, located in Heathfield, Newton Abbot, is one of the UK’s leading Airgun retailers and air rifle ranges, offering a unique and safe environment for shooting sports enthusiasts.
Eric and Shirley Irish started the business 10 years ago.
‘To celebrate our anniversary we decided to run a fund raiser for the two local charities, we have been overwhelmed by the support of all of our suppliers who donated prizes for the raffle and the generosity of all of our customers who have helped us raise over £6000’ Eric and Shirley said.
‘Interestingly, many people find target shooting to be a calming and mindful activity, as it allows them to focus on just one thing, helping to quiet their thoughts and worries.
‘This unexpected connection between sport and mental well-being makes Crackshot’s support for The Devon Clinic even more meaningful’ Eric and Shirley added.
