Galmpton were unable to raise a side to play Teignmouth on bank holiday Monday, so Teigns were awarded the three points without kicking a ball, writes Martin Jones.

Two days later, Teignmouth were unfortunate not to collect all three points against Exeter University.

Ben Smith gave Teigns a 12th-minute lead which lasted until the final minute of the game, when the students equalised.

The four points gained from the two games gave Teigns the chance to grab the runners-up spot behind champions Tiverton Reserves provided they could win their last game of the season, against Crediton – three points would see them snatch second place from Exeter University on goal difference.

Teignmouth completed the job with a comprehensive victory over visiting Crediton at Coombe Valley on Saturday.

Scott Baxter opened the scoring for the hosts in the tenth minute, with Ryan Bush finding the net from 15 yards to give his side a 2-0 half-time lead.

Myles James got Teigns’ third in the 50th minute – a fine solo effort, finished with a 25-yard left foot strike.

On the hour-mark, Matt Eves lashed the ball into the top corner from 30 yards to make it 4-0, before a well-placed lob from the edge of the box from Jack Baxter in the 75th minute completed the scoring for the hosts.

With the points secured, Teigns shuffled their formation which resulted in Crediton pulling two goals back late in the game, but it was not enough to deny Teignmouth the runners-up spot, and after the game the players were presented with the runners up trophy and their medals.
