BUCKLAND Athletic will visit Paulton Rovers for their final Western Football League fixture this side of Christmas.

Two goals within the first five-minute set them off on the wrong foot at Homers Heath last weekend, Ryan Bush and Ryan Richards firing back in the second half only for Oldland Abbotonians to win the fixture with a third.

Dan Hart will be keen to see his side bounce back when they travel to Bristol and after the Abbotonians defeat, the Bucks manager mentioned that “Finding our feet is something we do really well away from home”, so a strong start could well be on the cards.

Buckland currently sit seventh with Paulton two places and four points behind them in the standings, whilst their Boxing Day opponents Wellington are only behind Paulton on goal difference, making for a fascinating pair of games.

IN the South West Peninsula League Premier East, Teignmouth AFC will make the relatively short trip to The Rec to face Newton Abbot Spurs in the standout fixture on Boxing Day. Spurs kickstarted the season with a 4-0 home win over Bovey Tracey AFC and so will look to repeat this feat against another Mid-Devon rival.

Talking of Bovey and whilst they have no game on the 26th, they welcome Torridgeside AFC to Mill Marsh Park tomorrow, the pair both sat on 16 points with the victor able to propel themselves up the table.

Teignmouth are also playing this weekend, hosting high-flyers Cullompton Rangers in what will be a difficult day, whereas Spurs have the weekend off.

Lastly, there is the South Devon Football League but they are enjoying a Christmas break with action returning on January 4.
