It’s always good to see youngsters thriving and this is certainly the case with sports-mad Maddie Micklewright.

At just 11 years old, Maddie gave up football with Ipplepen to pursue boxing and she has taken to it rather well.

She may have only been with Kings Boxing Academy for two months but she has already bagged two Boxer of the Week awards and looks set to continue her growth as a rising star.

Head coach Chris Rattenbury said of Maddie, who starts senior school at Coombeshead Academy in September: ‘She is disciplined, hardworking and possesses the soul of a lioness.’
