THERAPY dogs Bambi, Loki, Molly, Obi and Santos made Newton Abbot WI’s February meeting extra special.
The town’s branch of the Women's Institute group warmly welcomed Therapy Dogs Nationwide’s four-legged representatives, as well as their human friends Belinda, Cristel, Jan, Julie and Martin, at its second meeting of 2025.
Therapy Dogs Nationwide is a charity where volunteers take their own dogs into a variety of venues to provide stimulation, comfort, and distraction.
Martin, who goes to Spain to rescue badly treated dogs, and brings them back to the UK through the correct channels, gave a speech during the meeting.
‘I was a truly wonderful evening’ Karen Jenks, Newton Abbot WI’s press officer said.
‘Our heartfelt thanks go to them all for visiting us - it was a privilege to meet them all’ she added.
But that was not all.
For it was time for Newton Abbot WI to announce the winner of its special Valentine’s Day competition.
Newton Abbot WI member Julie, left, won the competition, the prize of which was a heart-themed apron.
