Two of Teignmouth’s best-known poets are about to launch new books in the town, and are appearing on stage together tomorrow, October 16.
Andy Brown and Marc Woodward will share the stage at Oystercatchers Café when Poetry Teignmouth presents them as featured poets of the month.
Both are also known as musicians, Marc as virtuoso mandolinist and Andy as guitarist and singer. There will be music and poetry for 90 minutes of top entertainment. Their new poetry books will be on sale with signed copies available.
Andy Brown, who is associate professor in English and Creative Writing at Exeter University, will read from his latest collection, Bloodlines, from Worple Press. His previous book, Exurbia, also published by Worple, was described by Stride Magazine as ‘an exceptional collection of poems, clever and beautiful, that exhibits mastery of diverse forms’.
Marc Woodward’s first full collection of poetry is Hide Songs, published by Green Bottle Press. This follows his highly successful first pamphlet, A Fright of Jays, published in 2015 by Maquette. As well as being a popular performer on the local spoken word circuit, Marc is rapidly becoming established as a serious poet of rural matters and environmental concerns.
Oystercatchers Café bar will open at 7.30pm and the event starts at 8pm.
