One year after the Russian invasion of Ukraine residents of Newton Abbot stood in solidarity with Ukranians.

The Ukranian flag was raised atop St Leonard's Tower and town mayor Carol Bunday greeted those assembled before Newton resident and Ukrainian national Svetlana Pike addressed the crowd expressing her thanks to the town and the UK for all their support.

Following a one minute silence the emotions were stirred by the sound of the Ukranian national anthem that closed the poignant event.
