A GRIM memento from the deadliest wartime bombing raid on Teignmouth is now on display at the museum.
The gun is from a German Focke-Wulf fighter, one of seven that carried out a tip and run operation on Sunday, January 10, 1943, that killed 20 residents and injured another 27.
The aircraft were returning home when they were intercepted by two Hawker Typhoons from 266 Squadron based at Exeter.
One of the attackers was shot down 500 yards offshore by RAF Flying Officer John Small, 32, and ground-based anti-aircraft fire.
