IT was a busy weekend for Teignbridge’s firefighters as they were called out three times across two days.
Firefighters from Ashburton, Bovey Tracey, Dawlish and Newton Abbot saw action across February 7 through to February 8.
First up it was an early evening trip to Widecombe-in-the-Moor on February 7, where crew from Ashburton and Bovey Tracey responded to reports of a chimney fire.
The fire was extinguished from the hearth and the roof using ladders, chimney gear and a thermal imaging camera.
And another report of a chimney fire, this time in Dawlish, saw the seaside town’s crew brought in.
The crew discovered a small fire behind the lintel after having removed a log burner from the property.
Using chimney gear, small tools and a thermal image camera, the fire, which was started accidentally, was soon put out.
And last, but by no means least, is Newton Abbot.
Station 28 responded to a report of a cooker fire in the early hours of Saturday evening, February 8.
A piece of cardboard left on the hob had ignited a fire, but, fortunately, the home owner successfully extinguished it using a dry powder extinguisher prior to the arrival of Newton Abbot Fire Station’s finest.
