BOVEY Tracey based Dartmoor Distillery is set to take part in the first ever festival exclusively dedicated to English Whisky on October 16 and 17.

Hosted online due to the current COVID restrictions, the Virtual English Whisky Festival will feature taste-at-home samples alongside panel discussions from leading lights in the booming English Whisky industry.

The pioneering event, put on by the newly-established English Whisky Society, will include more than 30 samples from 14 English distilleries – including the international award-winning Cotswold Distiller Founders Choice, along with brand new releases and festival exclusives.

Experts will also take part in five panel discussions exploring the secrets behind the explosion of English whisky-making in recent years.

From just one distillery in 2006, there are now 26 distilleries selling, producing or maturing whisky in England – from Cumbria in the North to Kent in the South, and Cornwall in the West to Norfolk in the East.

Simon Crow, co-founder of Dartmoor Whisky says: ‘Dartmoor Whisky Distillery released our first whiskies this year against an uncertain backdrop due to the lockdown, but the response to our products has been phenomenal and we’ve just re-opened the distillery to visitors.

‘To also be a part of the first ever English Whisky Festival alongside our peers means that rather than being a write-off, 2020 will be remembered as the year that English Whisky really took off.’

Tickets for the two-day event, including five taste-at-home samples, begin at £35.62.
