DRIVERS in Newton Abbot can expect delays as a key road through the town has now closed for gas works after a few days of delay.
Wales and West Utilities have closed a section of Highweek Street as they continue their work to upgrade the network across the town.
The closure was supposed to come into affect from Monday, March 3.
However the road remained open until today, Thursday, March 6.

Three-way traffic lights on the junction of the A382 are now in place.
Drivers cannot turn right from Halcyon Road onto Highweek Street, nor can they turn left from the A382 onto Highweek Street.
The closure is expected to last until April 4.
Thereafter there will be a phased road closure along Highweek Road, with work planned on Coronation Road during May half term, until June.
At present, Highweek Road remains open and the leisure centre is still accessible.
Wales and West say the work is ‘essential to keep the gas flowing safely and reliably to local homes and businesses, keeping people warm for generations to come.’
