PUNK legend Captain Sensible joined local band The Salads for a fund raising gig in Dawlish.
The benefit event held at the Marine Tavern was in aid of the Cove Cafe at Coryton which was the target of thieves and vandalised twice in the space to two weeks.
More than £1,000 was raised at the weekend’s gig which will now be split equally between the Cove cafe and The Cave music project in Teignmouth.
Captain Sensible, the singer songwriter, who co-founded punk band The Damned, agreed to headline the event.
Crowds packed in to watch the performance on Friday night and spilled out onto the front terrace to enjoy the music.
Chris Durney, of The Salads, said: ‘So as weekends go, this weekend was something very special for our band.
‘We were fortunate enough to play a fund raising gig with Captain Sensible.
‘A massive thank you to everyone who came along, sorry to those that struggled to get in.
‘For the Salads, this was a night we will never forget.’
