THE volunteers who keep watch over the sea off Teignmouth had an 'amazing response' to their recent fundraising days at two large stores.

They collected more than £800 at Trago Mills and the Kingsteignton Tesco, and Anne Hodgetts, the Teignmouth National Coastwatch fundraiser, said: 'Given the strain on everybody's budget these days, it was an amazing response.

'It was really noticeable from speaking to so many people just how much our visual watch on shore and water-based activities is appreciated and valued.

'None of the money will be wasted. Our volunteers even have to buy their own uniforms. A big thank to all who contributed.'
