POLICE detained these two suspects (pictured) in the middle of the night as they tried to ‘hop it’ from premises in the Starcross area.
Officers pounced at 3.30am on the road between Starcross and Mamhead where they picked up the pair of straying rabbits.
One was a long-haired white rabbit while his partner-in-crime was short-haired and dark.
Both runaways were taken to the Teign View Veterinary Centre in Teignmouth to recoup from the ordeal of wandering off into the wilds of Devon.
Both are thought to be escaped family pets.
Anyone recognising the pair should contact the centre on 01626 778882.
A police spokesman said: ‘These look to be very well cared for animals and we are sure that someone is now missing a beloved pet. We are hoping someone will recognise them and will call the Teign View Centre.’
