A VIEW of the Oakford Filling Station passed to me by former proprietor John Burridge is the scene of this week’s dip into the past, writes Steve Harris.
The buildings at the filling station have changed almost beyond recognition since this photograph was taken on June 10, 1967 when vintage cars passed through the village on their way to a rally at Newton Abbot Racecourse.
The whole site has been remodelled with the former cottages at the end of the terrace having been demolished to allow expansion of the filling station and the garage shop now occupying what was the middle cottage in the terrace...
