THE pedestrian killed in the accident on the A38 on Sunday was a man in his 50s from the Kingsbridge area.
Police have confirmed: ‘The pedestrian, a man aged in his 50s from the Kingsbridge area, died at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed.
‘Ambulance, the air ambulance and the fire service were also called to the incident.
‘The road reopened at around 10.15pm.’
Police appealed for witnesses shortly after the accident and said: ‘At approximately 12.36hrs on Sunday, 2nd October, police attended a report of an RTC involving a car and a pedestrian on the A38 Dean Prior, Buckfastleigh.
‘The pedestrian was sadly confirmed as deceased.
‘Officers from the Roads Policing Team who attended are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision or have dash camera footage to contact police, quoting the log number 393 of 2nd October 2022.’
