RESIDENTS at a Bovey Tracey care home enjoyed a visit from equine royalty.
Patrick the Pony trotted in from his home in Cockington to meet the residents of Mulberry House.
Know for his gentle nature and fluffy mane, Patrick was a special guest at the centre where he made himself at home, meeting residents in their rooms and in the main sitting area.
A spokesman for Mulberry House said: ‘Seeing the faces of our residents light up as Patrick made his rounds was truly moving.
’It’s moments like these that remind us of the simple joys in life and the profound impact animals can have on our wellbeing.’
The visit was organised as part of Mulberry House’s ongoing commitment to providing engaging, heartwarming activities for its residents.
Residents were able to share their own memories and stories of animals during the visit.
One recalled stories of her own childhood on a farm.
The spokesman added: ‘Patrick’s visit is a testament to the positive effects animals can have on the elderly, particularly those in care homes.
‘Patrick also loves dogs and spent time introducing himself to Pandora and Ollie our residents dogs.
‘The smiles, conversations, and overall uplift in mood were clear indicators of the success of the day.
‘It was a day that will be fondly remembered and talked about for a long time to come.’
Ponies are known to offer therapeutic benefits to the vulnerable , elderly and very young. They are intuitive and respond to the emotions of the people around them.
