DEVON County Council has spent more than £25,000 on traffic lights in a Teignbridge village, a Freedom of Information (FOI) request shows.

The FOI shows that between February 26, 2024 and January 13, 2025 the council spent £26,372 on the temporary traffic lights on the A379 in Shaldon.

The figure now stands at more than £28,000, given that the data does not include February this year.

From February 26 to May 20 the cost-per-week was around £850, but thereafter the weekly cost was a steady £442.

In place since February 2024, the two-way lights are in response to a retaining wall that crumbled away.

Devon County Council has been approached for comment.
