A NEW £13million care home in Dawlish is expected to open next year.
Claremont Manor is currently under construction in Grebe Row, part of the new housing development north of Dawlish near Shutterton.
The company behind the new 71 bed facility will be hosting recruitment events in October to attract staff.
Work is said to be progressing well on the ‘luxury’ care home.
The location is part of Teignbridge Council’s DA2 development framework for up to 1,000 new homes which included provision for a care home when it was adopted more than six years ago.
When it opens, Claremont Manor, which is part of the Maria Mallaband Care Group, will offer residential care, dementia and nursing care in a ‘luxury setting’.
The company says the ‘state-of-the-art care home will boast a large number of luxury features, ranging from large en-suite rooms, to landscaped grounds with sensitive planting to encourage bees, butterflies, and other wildlife to visit the gardens’.
Also included in the plans for future residents are a hair and beauty salon, a cinema room, a wellness suite, private dining and leisure suite.
The home will also include a grandchildren’s room for families with younger children.
Sabrina Waterhouse, customer relations manager for Claremont Manor, said: ‘We are entering a really exciting point in the build, where we are starting to see the different spaces forming and identity each room and lounge.
‘We are now able to get a good feel for the generous size of the entire home.
'Every day is revealing a new part of the home and all that it can become.
‘The home has already brought a lot of interest since there is currently nothing like Claremont Manor in the Dawlish community and there is definitely a buzz around the home.
‘We strive to help those living with us to retain their independence and maintain their hobbies and passions because we understand that moving into a new environment is never an easy thing, so we want to ensure that their experience living with us is as comfortable and enjoyable and they can keep living life to the fullest.’
