DEVON and Cornwall Police seized more than 7,000 vehicles last year, a Freedom of Information (FOI) request has shown.
A total of 7,287 vehicles were seized, the FOI shows.
July saw the most seizes, with 655, while April saw the least, with 534.
A total of 4,824 were returned to their owners, 1,502 were destroyed by police and 378 were sold at auction.
The most common reason for a seizure was that the vehicle had been involved in a Road Traffic Collision (RTC).
Others included burnout vehicles, of which there were 57, having been used in a crime, of which there were 161, and not having insurance, of which there were 797 cases.
