A MINISTER is celebrating 20 years of service to Teignmouth Baptist Church.

To mark Rev Jamie Redfern’s anniversary, the church will be holding a special service.

Jamie and his wife Liz came to Teignmouth from Appledore in 2004 when he began as Associate Minister with responsibility for youth, taking over as team leader in 2010 following the retirement of Senior Minister John Wilson.

Since then, Jamie and the church’s leadership team, have developed further links with the community.

Now, the church is involved with various local events including Blessing of the Boats, Remembrance Day parade, Teignmouth Carnival, switching on the Christmas lights, Easter walk with the cross, and Teignmouth Pride.

Jamie has also served as the Mayor’s Chaplain several times.

The couple’s children have grown up through the church and Jamie is a familiar figure in the sea where he enjoys being part of the surfing community.

The celebration event takes place at Teignmouth Baptist church on Sunday September 22.
