A NEWTON Abbot man has been charged with eight sex offences against under age girls. 

Paul Hemmings, 59, has been remanded in custody and will appear at Exeter Crown Court on February 8. 

He is charged with a total of eight counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 to 15 at Newton Abbot between October 15 2023 and January 4 2024. 

Hemmings appeared before magistrates in Newton Abbot where he was remanded in custody until the case is heard at the Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing. 

The charges involve various sex offences contrary to the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
