GERMAN journalists have visited a Teignbridge food bank to investigate poverty in the UK.
HITS, which helps families and individuals across Teignbridge, were filmed by a German TV crew as volunteers helped to supply food parcels.
Trustee David Cox explained: ‘It was great to have the German TV crew from ARD, the equivalent to our BBC, visit HITS Foodbank.
‘They wanted to see how we deal with referrals to delivery and how HITS helps families who are referred by agencies for assistance.’
Volunteers were filmed packing food parcels and how a driver delivers food.
David said: ‘They had been to a food bank in Manchester where people queue up so they were surprised we delivered the food parcels and toiletry packs. We explained in a mainly rural district we need to take help to the door of our clients.’
