FIREFIGHTERS were today, Friday, October 6, called to help rescue a horse trapped in a ditch.

The horse, pictured below, had jumped a fence and found itself stuck in a six foot ditch.

'On arrival the officer in charge liaised with a vet who was already in attendance and the animals owners who were amazing at keeping him calm throughout' a spokesman for Buckfastleigh Fire Station said.

'We prepared the scene awaiting for the arrival of the service large animal rescue team from Exmouth Fire Station' the spokesman added.

The horse was sedated, lifted from the ditch using Buckfastleigh's very own tele-handler and reunited with its owner.
