A HOMELESS man has admitted carrying out a stabbing attack at Torquay’s Central Library but denied attempted murder.
Jonathan Simpson, aged 40, of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of Lee Howe at the library on Lymington Road, Torquay on February 13 this year.
He admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and being in possession of a knife at the library on the same date.
Simpson appeared at Exeter Crown Court on video link from the city’s prison and was remanded in custody by Judge Robert Linford, who was on a video link from Plymouth Crown Court.
The judge set a timetable for the progress of the case and a trial date of August 29 this year.
Police cordoned off the area around the library, which is a landmark in the centre of Torquay, after the incident last month.
