THE son of a former Teignmouth publican is cycling to Cornwall today in memory of his late dad.
Graham Chillingworth, who ran the Teign Brewery Inn for several years, died suddenly at the age of 45.
On the anniversary of his 60th birthday today, Glynn Chillingworth will pedal from the pub to another hostelry his dad used to manage, the Union Inn at Saltash.
He is being sponsored and all the cash will go towards providing a guide dog for the blind, a charity that was close to his father's heart.
It takes about £5,000 to acquire a suitable dog and train it and so far £1,800 has been raised.
Mr Chillingworth, from St Austell, has taken over the journey from brother Shaun, who is in the RAF and recently sustained an injury.
It will be quite an achievement for him. Four years ago he suffered a serious back injury and was warned he might never walk again, let alone ride a bike.
He is determined to prove the medics wrong.
