A PICNIC at the Park event at River Dart Country Park has helped raise funds for a Dartmoor-based charity hard at work creating a new community space.

Widecombe Community Hall CIO, a registered charity overseeing the construction of a new community space for the village, were present at the event and hosted their ever popular duck race.

A spokesman for Widecombe Community Hall CIO said: ‘What a lovely hot sunny day we had and a very busy River Dart Country Park - we ran Duck Races, a Tombola and had the Quilt on display.

‘Thank you to Chris, Yvette, Dylan, Ivy, Gail, Kirsty, Alan and Iain who helped make the day a success - we haven’t got a final total yet, but we had a busy day and lots of fun!’
