FREE Sunday bus travel is being offered to residents and visitors on most routes across Devon next weekend.

This is in celebration of World Care Free Day.

The offer, which runs on Sunday, September 22, is being delivered through the DevonBus Partnership, in conjunction with Devon County Council’s (DCC) bus operators – Stagecoach, Tally Ho, Dartline, Torbay Buses and Filers Travel.

For anyone travelling by bus Monday to Saturday, all bus journeys are still capped at a £2 single fare until December 2024.

Councillor Andrea Davis, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Environment and Transport, said: ‘The DevonBus Partnership was established to help people across Devon and this offer of free bus travel highlights what can be achieved by working together.

‘It’s an opportunity for everyone to try the free Sunday bus services, whether it’s for a leisurely day out, to go shopping or to visit family and friends.

‘Hopefully this event will encourage more people in the county to become regular bus passengers.

‘Combined with the £2 fare for bus journeys on other days or free travel with a concessionary bus pass, bus passengers are enjoying great value for money and can rest assured they’re doing their bit for the environment.’

The routes included in this offer cover a wide area across Devon and detailed information about the specific routes and timetables can be found on the Travel Devon website.

DCC are supporting the event with Torbay Council using Bus Service Improvement Plan funding provided by the Department for Transport.
