AND it's open... Denbury's 'Festival of Flowers' has been opened today, Friday, July 7, by former television and radio personality Jodi Spiers.

An event more than four moths in the planing, the festival runs from today, Friday, July 7, until Sunday, July 9, and showcases the creations of 15 community groups and as many as 20 students and tutors from the British Academy of Floral Art.

Julie Collins, Principal and Founder of the Academy, said: 'This is a fabulous collaboration which both the Academy and our students have fully embraced – giving us a fantastic opportunity to work with others to share our knowledge but also to showcase the skills of our very talented students.'

Entrants were tasked with creating a collection of floral deigns centred around one of the five senses.

There is more than meets the eye for several of the displays, for they are interactive; some have edible elements, for example, others have sound creating elements and so on.

The festival, which continues tomorrow, Saturday, July 8, and wraps up on Sunday, July 9, saw more than 3000 stems of flowers used.

'It's amazing, there is such a community spirit' said organiser Irene Davey.

'Denbury does it well' she added.
