AN indoor skatepark in Newton Abbot has reopened after having been closed for months due to flooding.

The Lodge is ‘beyond excited’ to welcome its users back.

The indoor skatepark was forced to close after being badly affected by flood water during an intense period of heavy rain in November 2024.

But, after months of hard-work and a great deal of support from both the skater and wider community alike, the popular venue was final able to reopen.

And it was just in time for February half-term.

Nikki Taylor, Chairman of The Lodge, said that last year’s flooding had left the team ‘uncertain about the future’ of the skate park, but that thanks to the ‘overwhelming generosity and determination’ of the community, volunteers, and businesses, the Lodge could be rebuilt and restored.

Nikki said: ‘From individuals donating to our crowdfund to local businesses offering their time, skills, and resources, the response has been nothing short of incredible.

‘Whether you helped with the clean-up, contributed financially, or offered words of encouragement, we cannot thank you enough.

‘This would not have been possible without you!

‘We are beyond excited to welcome skaters, BMX riders, and scooter enthusiasts back to The Lodge.

‘Whether you’re a regular or visiting for the first time, we cant wait to see you shredding again!’

Once a BMX oriented shop with an indoor ramp, The Lodge Skatepark began in earnest in 2014 and has since become a staple of the indoor skatepark circuit.

But in late November 2024, Storm Bert brought heavy rain and wind to Devon.

The Lodge, having only just finished a long-desired redevelopment of its kitchen and lounge space, suffered what the team described as the worst flooding in ten years.
