A BONFIRE and firework extravaganza raised just under £5,000 for charity.

This year’s Shaldon and Teignmouth Bonfire and Fireworks event was Harry Potter themed.

On Saturday, October 29, the Hogwarts Express made a special journey from Platform Nine and three quaters to Shaldon beach, bringing with it the magic of the famous wizarding world.

The total amount raised by public donations this year was more than £4,900.

The Bonfire and Fireworks Committee of Shaldon Parish Council, via the authority’s Facebook page, said: ‘We would like to send huge thanks to everyone who contributed, especially to those village businesses who also donated significant sums in support: Coast View Holiday Park, the Ferry Boat Inn, HS Hire, the Ness Hotel and the London Inn.

‘This awesome support means that Shaldon Bonfire and Fireworks will return in 2023!’
