FIREFIGHTERS Richard Norton, from Newton Abbot Fire Station, has passed two important tests.
Over the past month, FF Norton has been put through both his LGV test, as well as his C&C (Command and Control) course.
On its Facebook page the town’s Fire Station reports: ‘Rich performed well during his command course, demonstrating his ability and knowledge throughout a variety of scenarios.
‘His final assessment saw him deal with an industrial battery storage fire.
‘Rich had to balance the decisions of how to best rescue persons trapped within, whilst considering the safety of the crews.
‘Rich is now qualified to take the appliance out in charge and can be overall responsible for an incident of up to five pumps.
‘Following on from this, he then took his LGV test. After another intensive week, Rich achieved a pass on his first attempt.
‘Rich will now be required to drive 250 miles in non-emergency situations. This is so that he can get used to our vehicles before moving on to a 3-week blue light driving course.
‘All of us at Newton station would like to pass on our congratulations to FF Norton.
‘Well done Rich.’
