TWO fire engines from Newton Abbot and one from Torquay battled a fire at Denbury which left a commercial building severely damaged today (Monday).
The fire appliances were sent to reports of smoke at the property at Wrenwell Cross, Denbury, shortly before 11am
A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service said: ‘The crews immediately requested the attendance of the water bowser from Torquay due to the location of the fire.
‘This was a single storey building used for animal food preparation and grooming, well alight.
‘Crews got to work with four breathing apparatus, one main jet and one hose reel jet.
‘Eventually the fire was extinguished, and crews damped the area down using drag forks and ceiling hooks.
‘The cause of the fire was accidental, and the building severely damaged.’
