A NUMBER of people appeared before South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court for having not rail ticket or travelling on the railway without previously paying their fare. Among them were:
- John Bennett, aged 30, of Bunting Close, Teignmouth, was found guilty that at Newton Abbot he travelled on Great Western Railway without having previously paid his fare of £8.80. He was fined £220 and must pay compensation of £8.80, costs of £180 and £88 to fund victim services.
- Jake Warren Graham Bolt, aged 25, of Talbot Close, Highbridge, was found guilty that at Newton Abbot he travelled on Great Western Railway without having previously paid his fare of £70.10. He was fined £440 and must pay compensation of £70.10, costs of £180 and £176 to fund victim services.
- Sam Cunningham, aged 22, of Haldon View, Beech Avenue, Exeter, was found guilty that at Starcross he travelled on Great Western Railway without having previously paid his fare of £14.50. He was fined £220 and must pay compensation of £14.50, costs of £180 and £88 to fund victim services.
- James Dorian, aged 30, of Blenheim Street, Bristol, was found guilty of entering a Great Western Railway train without a valid ticket at Starcross. He was fined £440 and must pay compensation of £104, costs of £180 and £176 to fund victim services.
- Katie Thane, aged 18, of Luton, Chudleigh, was found guilty that at Newton Abbot she travelled on Great Western Railway without having previously paid her fare of £2.30. She was fined £220 and must pay compensation of £2.30, costs of £180 and £88 to fund victim services.
