WET weather did little to dampen spirits in Newton Abbot last night, November 26, as large crowds gathered at St Leonards clocktower to watch the town’s Christmas lights turn on.

Taking time out of his rather busy schedule, Father Christmas, with a little help from Newton Abbot mayor, Cllr Carol Bunday, switched on the lights at around 5.30pm to a crowd of happy onlookers, whose spirits remained high in spite of less than ideal weather.
