THE music of Bruce Springsteen features in the latest offering from the Teignmouth Film Society, now based in Dawlish.
‘Blinded by the Light’ (certificate ) will be screened at 8pm with doors open from 7pm on Friday, December 16. The running time for the film is 1 hour and 57 minutes.
Part musical, part coming-of-age movie, the film is set in Luton, in 1980s Britain – a time of bad hair, high unemployment and racism.
The film society says: ‘But have no fear! Though all these are present, this no dreary social tract, but a joyous story of love, friendship and triumph over the odds.
‘If, like young Javed, the hero of the film you are a fan of Bruce Springsteen, you will love the music, but even if you aren’t, you can’t fail to be swept along by the sheer conviction and energy of it all.
‘A fun film for Christmas!’
Teignmouth Film Society has moved to Dawlish, where they are combining their screenings with The Shaftesbury Theatre in Brunswick Place, Dawlish.
Films will continue to cost £5, payable at the door and the Shaftesbury Theatre bar will be open for refreshments.
There is free parking (from 6 pm): on-street or round the corner in Barton Hill Car Park, Barton Hill, Dawlish EX7 9QF.
