Ashburton & Buckfastleigh Rotary is delighted to say they had a record year for funds raised at the Artex exhibition at Buckfast Abbey this year.
They will be delighted to use the proceeds to support the Samaritans, Children’s Hospice South West and Build on Books in Sierra Leone, along with local charities.
The club are extremely grateful to Buckfast Abbey for letting them use the magnificent setting of the Abbey to once again hold their Art exhibition.
Thanks are also due to help from Totnes Rotary, the newly formed Friends of Ashburton & Buckfastleigh Rotary, and of course, last but by no means least the artists, many of whom helped with stewarding during the three weeks of the exhibition.
Out of 75 artists who exhibited, 57 successfully sold paintings and 11 of those were from artists who had not previously exhibited.
We were fortunate to be given a painting to raffle and 800 raffle tickets were sold. It was won by a visitor from Liskeard.
The club looks forward to repeating the exhibition next year and the Abbey has graciously agreed we may hold it in their grounds and an artist has already offered us a painting to raffle.
