A TEN year old school boy from Kingsteignton took it upon himself to raise money for mental health with a cake sale last Thursday, May 19.
Ellis Mackenzie, who attends Rydon Primary School, is working towards his Silver Award which requires Ellis give something back to the community and, naturally, the young man opted for a cake sale.
Ellis sold an array of homemade treats: lemon drizzle cake, coffee cake, scones, blueberry and chocolate muffins, chocolate crispy cakes and much more besides, raising more than £125 in the process.
Ellis’s mum Connie said: ‘I am very proud of Ellis for doing this, I hoped he didn’t eat all the cake before we sold it all!’
‘Well done Ellis, I am super proud of you!’ Ellis’s nan added.
The money is to be donated to the ‘Acts of Kindness’ Facebook page, a community portal where members can give old goods a second life by giving them away to other members.
Daisy Do, the person behind the Acts of Kindness Facebook page, said in a post: ‘I think you are very deserved of your silver award just for the lemon drizzle cake as it was really yummy - thank you Ellis for making a difference.’
