PUPILS at Bovey Tracey Primary School have made a short film of a regular school day for prospective parents who can’t visit because of the pandemic.

The school says the short film gives a flavour of what it’s like at the school for families who would usually have attended an open afternoon before Christmas.

These are normally held for the families of children looking to join the school the following September but have had to be cancelled because of the pandemic.

Individual families can still book an after-school visit but the video will reach more families.

Bovey Tracey headteacher, Louise Prywata, said: ‘We had a small film company come in and record what a regular day looks like for the children.

‘We got some wonderful pieces of film of the children learning in the classroom as well as other activities we offer beyond our broad curriculum, like multi-skills clubs, choirs, orchestra and outdoor learning.

‘It also gave us an opportunity to talk about the school ethos and values and how we nurture a love of learning and academic achievement.

‘We’re still welcoming prospective parents and children to visit us individually after school where we can talk more about the improvements we’ve made over the last 18 months.’

Deputy head, Rebecca Forrest, said: ‘The pupils loved their day in front of the camera. It was a chance to celebrate all of the great things which Bovey has to offer.

‘The film is something we can all be proud of. We are a community school in the heart of Bovey Tracey and we hope, whether you have children or grandchildren at the school or not, that you will enjoy the film.

‘Local businesses and charities have always been so supportive of us so it’s great to be able to share and celebrate our school with everyone.’
