Whilst doing the ­survey on the Public Space Protection Order, it occurred to me that ­perhaps the USA have got something right with their ‘Dog Parks’.

This would be a big enough enclosed area for dogs to run free and owners could ‘self police’ those lazy, unthoughtful owners who do not pick up after their dogs – of course it would need to be a child-free zone!

As for controlling the number of dogs walked by one person surely this would be determined by the size of the animals – five Chihuahua are more manageable than five German Shepherds!
