MORE than £650 was raised at special cream tea afternoon in aid of the Mayor of Dawlish Rosie Dawson’s charities.
Trustees, volunteers and young people from Dawlish Action for Youth prepared and served 70 cream teas for the event held at the Manor House.
Money was raised through ticket sales and a raffle and will go to the Mayor’s three chosen charities for her year in office: Devon Air Ambulance, Dawlish Museum and Dawlish Library.
Entertainment was provided by the popular Back Beach Boyz shanty crew.
Cllr Dawson said: ‘It was fantastic to have young people helping out and I will be donating to DAY to thank them further.
‘They were so friendly, polite and couldn’t do enough for our guests.
‘Thank you to Gays Creamery who donated the scones kindly and to The Local Scoop and museum friends, amongst others, for donating raffle prizes.
‘The music was though slapping, foot stomping and a perfect end to a busy Carnival Week in Dawlish.’
