OVERALL council tax paid by residents of a Teignbridge village is set to increase.

Hennock Parish Council (HPC) has set its precept for this financial year at £55,618.74.

For a Band D property, this equates to £86.49 a year, which is an increase from £81.

This represents an increase of £5.49 or an additional 46p per month.

The parish council’s precept is one among several that makes up the total council tax paid.

A Parish Lengthsman is someone appointed by a parish or town council to undertake small highway maintenance works; HPC says it is having to take on more work that would have traditionally been done by Devon County Council.

Funding its Climate and Sustainability Group and maintenance of it new website were also cited as reasons for the increase.
