A DIP in the sea in Devon is always regarded as bracing - whatever the season.
Regenerative.
Restoring, even.
And maybe in those balmy summer months we can see the appeal.
But mid-winter? The day after Christmas?
Fortunately such thoughts didn’t enter the thoughts of the hundreds who braved the waves at Teignmouth on Boxing Day for a gentle stroll, splash or sprint into the chilly waters of the English Channel.



There was, of course, method in their madness, as Teignmouth’s annual Walk into the Sea, back after a three year hiatus, is a major fundraiser for Teignmouth RNLI.
Speedos, bikinis and board shorts were not necessarily the swimwear of choice with many participants opting instead for the fancy-dress option.
