THE annual Civic Awards scheme is to be expanded in Dawlish.

There will now be three categories for the town council run awards which will now recognise both adult and youth individuals as well as organisations.

And the awards for next year will be renamed to either ‘Dawlish Parish Recognition Awards’ or ‘Dawlish Community Awards’.

The three categories will now be: Organisation Individual Youth under 18, and Individual Adult over 18.

Early in January, the 2023 awards will be announced with a deadline for nominations on March 1.

Winners will be presented with their awards at the annual meeting of the town council meeting in May.

All three awards will be on recognition of outstanding service to the community.

Nominees must fulfil at least one of a number of criteria.

These are: to have made a material contribution to the advancement, wellbeing and welfare of the people of Dawlish; support of charitable work carried out in the parish or assisted the town council in a voluntary capacity or demonstrated outstanding citizenship.
