The Post Office will close from next Friday, September 29, and will then be at Kaleidoscope, 5 Fore Street, Kingskerswell, TQ12 5HT. This ‘relocated’ branch will be known as Kingskerswell Post Office.
The new opening hours will be Monday to Saturday: 9am – 5.30pm, offering 51 hours of Post Office service a week.
A Post Office spokesperson said: ‘This is an extra 22 hours and 30 minutes of Post Office service a week than currently offered at Lowes Bridge, making it more convenient to visit.
‘The current Postmaster wants to leave the business.
‘We have been looking for a sustainable solution for customers served at Lowes Bridge branch and we have also taken the opportunity to review Post Office services in the local area.
‘The new location is where Kingskerswell Post Office was located until July 2019, until the resignation of the Postmaster.
‘This store is now under new management. It is now a traditional sweet and gift shop. There will be one screened serving position in a dedicated area of the store.
‘The experienced Postmaster for Ashburton will operate Kingskerswell Post Office and this will restore service to this area.
‘Kingskerswell will offer the most frequently used Post Office products and services, including our everyday banking services, bill payment and mails.
Lowes Bridge Post Office is scheduled to close at 125 Newton Road, Lowes Bridge, Torquay, TQ2 7AJ, on Friday 30 September at 2pm.
The new Post Office service at Kingskerswell is scheduled to open on Monday, October 3, at 1pm.
During the transfer alternative Post Office branches include: Shiphay Collaton Post Office, 74 Cadewell Lane, Torquay, TQ2 7HP; Barton Post Office, 162 Barton Hill Road, Torquay, TQ2 8HN; Sherwell Valley Road Post Office, 51 Sherwell Valley Road, Torquay, TQ2 6EL
‘Lowes Bridge Post Office is currently operating reduced opening hours and some customers have found it more convenient to use Shiphay Collaton Post Office due to its close proximity. We believe many customers will continue to use this branch after Lowes Bridge branch relocates to the Kingskerswell area.
‘We are keen to maintain service to the area, so we are to go ahead with our plans.
‘However, there is an opportunity to give feedback which will close on November 1. Customers can share their views during the consultation online at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 172552.
