A BODY was pulled from the sea off the coast of Torquay over the weekend, police have confirmed.

The man, thought to be in his fifties, was pronounced dead at the scene after having been recovered near Hope’s Nose on Saturday, April 5.

HM Coastguard, a RNLI Lifeboat and the air ambulance were also deployed.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘The body was recovered from the water by the RNLI and Coastguard.

‘The man in his 50s from Exeter was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

‘Police are not treating the death as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.’
